Not that I need a reason to make a yummy snack, but any time a holiday or special occasion rolls around I like to whip up some chocolate covered pretzels. They’re just so festive, not to mention delicious! They’re also super easy to make. If you’ve never made them, let me show you how!
What you need
- pretzel rods
- chocolate candy melts
- wax/parchment paper
- pretzel bags
- sandwich bags
- microwave safe bowls
- serving platters of cookie sheets
Let’s do this!
Line your cookie sheets or serving platters with wax paper. Then melt your chocolate candy melts in the microwave. I start with one minute, mix the wafers and then heat 30 seconds at a time to make sure not to burn the chocolate. Believe me when I say there’s nothing worse than wasting a whole bowl of chocolate. You’ll know the chocolate is melted enough if the consistency is smooth and fluid (it will drip off the spoon.) If the chocolate is burnt it’ll be chunky and hard… and in that case take my advice, throw them out and give it another go!
Put your accent chocolate color in a sandwich ziplock bag, zip shut with no air in bag and twist the bag to keep the chocolate mostly in one corner of the bag. Cut off the corner (abt 2mm wide.)
Dip the pretzel rods in the main chocolate color bowl, giving them a good coat. Then wave the pretzel back and forth to get an even coat of chocolate. Once you have them lined on your cookie sheet/serving tray drizzle the accent color. Get those festive sprinkles ready and spritz away!
