This year I created beautiful Halloween garland to go around my front and garage doors. The thick garland totaled about 55 feet in length and as you can imagine would take up some space to store when the season was over. I store all my holiday decorations in the attic above my garage. I searched online for a container large enough to store the garland but then ran into the problem of the container being too large to fit through the attic stairway. It wasn’t until I started bringing my Christmas decorations out that I came up with the solution… CHRISTMAS TREE STORAGE BAGS!

Two of these 15 x 30 x 65 inch christmas tree storage bags from Amazon held all my garland perfectly. The bags are sturdy and thick so they won’t easily tear, flexible so they’ll fit up my attic stairs and easy to maneuver with their thick and convenient straps.

Because I have a lot of holiday decorations in my attic I try to stay organized by having different areas for the different holidays. I wanted to label the garland bags so I didn’t mistake them for Christmas decorations and could easily find them.

What you need

  • Holiday Garland
  • Christmas Tree Shipping Bags (I used these ones purchased through Amazon)
  • Cricut machine, Permanent Vinyl and clear shipping tape (optional)

I used my Cricut machine to customize labels for the bags, using a contrasting color and simple font allowing the labels to be read easily. I used permanent white vinyl and then heavy duty shipping tape to cover the lettering and prevent the vinyl from coming off.

That’s it! A pretty simple and easy solution to my garland storage problem. Do you have a different storage solution for your holiday garland? I’d love to know what you did if so!
